Ocean Dreams Ring | Boulder Opal 14K Gold & Sterling Silver

There are blues that ask to be looked at and blues that pull you in.

This one pulls you in.

The stone came from Winton, Queensland, where boulder opals grow slowly inside ironstone over millions of years. When the stone is cut, the ironstone stays. It is not removed or hidden. It is part of the piece, a warm, earthy border around a colour that has no business being that blue.

The bezel is 14K yellow gold, warm and close-fitting, holding the stone without competing with it. The band is sterling silver, cooler in tone, a deliberate contrast that lets both metals do something the other cannot.

This ring does not match an outfit. It anchors one.

It was made once, slowly, at my bench, shaped around this particular stone and no other. It is for the woman who has stopped settling for almost right, who knows the difference between a piece that is beautiful and a piece that is hers. She will never see it on someone else. That is not a promise. It is simply the nature of how it was made.
